Red Cross will offer classes in November

ESCANABA – The American Red Cross in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties is offering the following courses for November.

The First Aid and CPR/AED courses teach people how to perform CPR and use an AED (automated external defibrillator), what to do if someone is choking, and how to prevent and respond to other emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Course participants also learn how to control bleeding as well as how to care for seizures and other sudden illnesses.

Babysitter’s Training will give 11-15 year-olds the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Caregiving skills take prospective young sitters from feeding to diapering and playtime to bedtime routines. All classes are held at our Escanaba Office, located at 504 1st Avenue North.

November Classes:

Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Cost $90

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/ CPR/AED, Nov. 16, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Cost $110.

Babysitter’s Training, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Cost $85.

Red Cross training courses meet OSHA guidelines, feature handson skills practice and include twoyear certifications, free digital materials and skill refreshers. Visit redcross.org/take-a-class or call (800) RED-CROSS for details and to register for a class.

Garden church plans annual fall bingo

GARDEN – St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Garden will hold its annual fall bingo on Nov. 8, at the Garden Community Building.

Doors for the event will open at 6 p.m. and bingo will begin at 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be available.

Blood drive slated for Nov. 6 in Manistique

MANISTIQUE – The U.P. Regional Blood Center, a service of Marquette General, will hold a blood drive on Nov. 6 at the Blanchard Center in Manistique.

The drive will take place from 1 – 5:15 p.m.
