Halloween Children’s parade set for Oct. 25

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce and Ambassadors will be holding the annual Children’s Halloween Parade on Oct. 25.

The parade will line up in the parking lot between mBank and Cinema I at 5:45 p.m.; the parade will begin at 6 p.m.

The parade will proceed down Cedar St. to Triangle Park, turn right around the back into Floyds Restaurant, where there will be hot dogs, chips, soda and a goody bag presented to everyone dressed in costume.

MSP warns of local warrant phone scam

MANISTIQUE – The Michigan State Police – St. Ignace Post, Manistique Detachment, is notifying residents of a new scam. In the scam, the caller poses as a member of the MSP, claiming the resident must pay money to clear a warrant.

Troopers warn that scams take many forms, but citizens should know that law enforcement will never call you to notify you of a warrant and to ask for money or bank account information.

They also warn that most scams involve obtaining a victim’s personal information under false pretenses. The scammer usually portrays a sense of urgency, pretending to be an official of a legitimate organization to fool a victim into providing personal information or money.

Holiday Arts Fair will take place at center

ESCANABA – The Holiday Arts Fair will be held on Nov. 2 in Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A holiday bake sale, paintings, jewelry, woodwork, and soaps will be available. In addition a raffle will also take place.
