Local resident and Elks Lodge member Ann Deloria attended her first road rally 23 years ago. She fell in love with the event and started one in the Manistique area. Before Deloria passed away in 2008, she took steps to ensure the Road Rally would continue.

This year’s Deloria Road Rally was changed slightly, with a higher admission price to allow the Elks Lodge to donate proceeds to a local charity.

“Ann always wanted us to make sure this was a lasting event, and we’ve done just that,” said Elks Treasurer Jim Gaffney. “We put the work in, the Elks doesn’t make a penny for hosting the event, but we are a charity organization so I think she’d love the new charity campaign. This year we broke a record with 100 participants, and had teams from as far as Saginaw. Ann loved the outdoors and putting people out in the woods to enjoy themselves for a beautiful fall color tour made her happy, and we feel the same way.”

This year the event raised over $200, with one winning team donating the prize money back to the organization. This resulted in the $500 donation given to the animal shelter.
