Lady Bears steadily improve

BARK RIVER – Their record doesn’t tell the whole story, but looking at their stats, the Big Bay de Noc varsity volleyball team is consistently improving as individuals and as a team.

At Hannaville on Oct. 3, the Bears went in and out for three with scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-11.

On the road at Bark River Monday, the Bears couldn’t steal the win from the home team.

After dropping the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-6, the visiting Bears rallied in the third taking the match 25-18.

With momentum continuing in the fourth encounter, Bark River unfortunately pulled out the squeaker with a 26-24 win.

The bears continue to see consistent activity on the floor and at the net from Vanessa Damer, Maria Yonker, Heather LaLonde, Patience Damer and Samantha Sundling.

The junior varsity team lost their first match at Barker River 25-18. In the second game of the night, the team rallied to a 28-26 defeat.

The Bears won’t see the court again until Oct. 15 when they travel to Munising.
