Club drops games to visitor
Hoping for a different outcome from their first encounter, Manistique faced off against the JV1 squad in the first game. Unfortunately, as in their last meeting, Marquette dominated the game.
The final score was 10-1. Manistique’s lone goal was made by Jacob Burnis coming off a penalty kick in the second half.
The only other shots on goal were by Brett Annelin and David Pratt.
Goalkeepers for the game were siblings Samantha Walters and Tony Walters. They had 11 combined saves.
Overwhelmed by the point spread in game one, the club team was determined to narrow the margin in the second. Even though the match ended in defeat against the JV2 team, Manistique only lost by one. The final score was 4-3.
The three goals were scored by Chris Freeman, Sam Furman, and David Pratt.
Along with the goals, there were several shots taken by Brett Annelin, Darien Nichols and additional shots from Furman and Freeman.
Zachary Wheaton was in goal and had four saves.
With both squads playing a little more aggressive in the game two, penalties changed the score of the game which could have ended in a 2-2 tie.
Furman’s goal came off a penalty shot as did two of Marquettes.
The club will head to Marquette this weekend for a tournament and their final game of the season will be Oct. 15 at home against Big Bay de Noc at 5 p.m.
