Foster Grandparents to hold in-service meet

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Foster Grandparents in-service meeting will be held Oct. 14 at 11:15 a.m. at the Manistique Senior Center.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The Foster Grandparent Program is administered by the Menominee- Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency.

SCMTA to hold monthly meeting in Wetmore

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Motorized Trails Association will hold its next meeting on Oct. 17.

Please note that this month’s meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Camel Riders Restaurant in Wetmore.

Auxiliary to host fall dinner meeting Oct. 15

MANISTIQUE – Schoolcraft Hospital Auxiliary will host its fall dinner meeting on Oct. 15. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. the Upper Crust CafĂ© on Traders Point Drive.

The speaker will be Charla Kimmel, certified EMT, ER department volunteer and patient advocate. She will discuss the Emergency Response Team of Schoolcraft County.

Cost to attend is $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Peoples Store until noon on Oct. 12.

The auxiliary welcomes guests and new members. For more information call 341-6371.

Wire jewelry class offered by Lake Effects Art

MANISTIQUE – A “Wire Jewelry” class will be offered by the Lake Effect Arts Gallery on Oct. 29. The class, taught by Donna Shields, will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in Manistique.

Sheilds’ has studied under various artists, including Angela Carter, Leila Martin, Beth Millner, and Jim McIntosh.

During the three-hour class, instruction will be given in many of the tools used to make wire jewelry: round-nosed, chainnosed, and nylon-jawed pliers; small stepped mandrel; steel bench block; as well as small nylon or rawhide and chasing hammers.

Each participant will create three pairs of beaded wire earrings to keep. Cost, including all supplies, is $25 for Lake Effects members and $30 for non-members.
