‘Ask the DNR’ set to air tonight on Ch. 13

MARQUETTE – “Ask the DNR” returns to WNMU-TV Channel 13 tonight (Thursday) The episode, airing at 8 p.m., will focus on fall hunting and fishing opportunities and regulations.

The hour-long program features a panel of Department of Natural Resources employees taking questions from viewers who call in during the live show to (906) 227- 9668 or (800) 227-9668.

Questions are answered live on the show; any questions not answered before the end of the episode will be answered by phone call to the viewer.

Thursday’s episode will feature conservation officer Jerry Fitzgibbon from Alger County; wildlife biologist Kevin Swanson from Marquette; and fisheries biologist Cory Kovacs from Newberry.

The episode is sponsored by U.P. Whitetails of Marquette County.

Waterfowl hunting is open across state

LANSING – Waterfowl hunting season is now open in Michigan..

The regular Canada goose season is already under way. Season dates run from Sept. 11 – Dec. 11 in the North Zone. Information on goose seasons in GMUs can be found on the DNR website at www.michigan.gov/waterfowl.

Duck seasons have been split into two segments in all three of state duck-hunting zones this year. Duck hunting is has begun in the North Zone and runs from Sept. 21 – Nov. 10 and Nov. 23 – Dec. 1.

Waterfowl hunting regulations and bag limits can be found in the 2013-2014 Michigan Waterfowl Hunting Digest. Digests are available at DNR Operation Service Centers, wildlife field offices and license agents or on the web at www.michigan.gov/ dnrdigests.

The 2013-14 waterfowl hunting season continues the celebration of the Michigan Waterfowl Legacy. The MWL is a 10-year, cooperative partnership to restore, conserve and celebrate Michigan’s waterfowl, wetlands and waterfowl hunting community.
