Merchants hold event, list drawing winners

Special sale used to thank residents

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Merchants Association recently held a special “Backdoor/ Homecoming Sale” to say “thank you” for residents’ patience during the downtown construction project and also to celebrate Manistique’s homecoming game.

The Cedar Street project, which began on Sept. 3, limited or closed front access to merchants as construction crews replaced water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer for the section of Cedar Street between Oak and Walnut streets.

During the one-day only event, patrons had the opportunity to register for a drawing which included 50-inch and 32-inch televisions, “merchant” cash, as well as products and gift certificates from merchant members.

Donations to the MMA from Coleman Engineering Company, Team Elmer’s, the city of Manistique and the Manistique Downtown Development Authority made the event possible.
