Emeralds’ streak comes to end at hands of Miners
Starting fast, the Emeralds dominated set one, beating Negaunee 25-19. However, serving errors by the Emeralds changed the momentum in the Miners’ favor, and they went on to take the next three sets, ending the Emeralds’ run.
“We came out hard in set one, but allowed serving errors to change the flow of the game,” Coach Amy Nixon said. “Set three was a close battle that, unfortunately, didn’t go our way. In set four, we made too many errors that they were able to take advantage of.”
The loss to Negaunee came on the heels of a solid win over the Norway Knights last Thursday.
After a slow start, the Emeralds put together wins in sets two, three and four to beat the Knights.
“Sets two and three were a ballet,” Nixon said. “We got down, but my girls made great plays at the right time to ensure the win. Set four was the finishing set; we attacked hard against a good defensive Norway team.”
