Sale planned to thank residents for patience

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Merchant’s Association is having a Backdoor/Homecoming Sale on Friday. The organization is hosting the event as a way to say “thank you” for residents’ patience during the Cedar Street construction project downtown.

The event also serves as a celebration of Manistique Middle and High School’s Homecoming activities Friday, when the Emeralds will host the Munising Mustangs.

The one-day only event will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

As the construction project progresses, front access to businesses in the construction zone is limited. Most merchants have access from the back municipal parking lots on both sides of the Cedar Street. Temporary crosswalks may be in place for the day.

The construction project is expected to wrap up by Oct. 1.

While shopping the specials at participating merchants, residents are reminded to register for a grand prize drawing.

The grand prize will be a 50-inch Toshiba television. The second place prize will be a 32-inch Panasonic TV. There will also be several various additional drawings for Manistique Merchant cash, as well as products and gift certificates from merchant members.

The drawing will be held near Wheaty’s Pub after 5 p.m.

Additional information is available on page A8.
