2013 early education conference sees twist
MARQUETTE – The UPAEYC 2013 Early Childhood Learning Fair is set for Oct. 12 in Marquette. The UPAEYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting high early childhood standards, is the Upper Peninsula affiliate of the Michigan and National Association for the Education of Young Children.
This year’s conference offers a new twist as a “World Caféstyle” alternative to the traditional speaker-led conference.
From 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, U.P. early childhood providers will be immersed in an interactive experience that taps into issues important to teachers and caregivers.
“The format for this year’s conference was adapted from the knowledge- or world-cafe style of conversational meetings,” explained UPAEYC President Judy Place.
Training hours will be offered for the a.m. sessions. A pre-event dinner will kick off the weekend at the historic Landmark Inn on Oct. 11 with a silent auction starting at 5:30 p.m.
Friday attendees are requested to register for the dinner by Oct. 1.
