Club soccer returns home with lose and tie

MANISTIQUE – On the road Saturday in Marquette for a doubleheader, Manistique Club Soccer made the trip home with a loss and tie in the books.

In game one, travel legs seemed to plague the squad as Manistique was unable to score against the Marquette JV1 team, losing 10-0.

Following the break, it was a much closer competition against the Marquette JV2 team in game two.

At the half, the score was tied 2-2 with goals scored by Chris Freeman and Brett Annelin. With 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Marquette scored their third goal.

Railing together, the crew was able to prevent Marquette from scoring for the remainder of the game.

With time ticking off the clock, Manistique was able to score again and tie the game at 3-3 when Chris Freeman headed the ball into the net off a pass from Jake Burnis.

Goaltending for both games was Tony Walters.

The club will travel to Cooks on Saturday to take on the Bay de Noc Black Bears at noon.
