Community choir plans fall concert

Newly debuted group to showcase talents

MANISTIQUE – The newly formed Manistique Community Chorus, which made its debut at the spring Glee Concert, is presenting an afternoon of music on Oct. 13. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Marvin Frederickson Auditorium.

“Homeward Bound” is the theme for the fall concert. Included are familiar melodies from several spirituals such as “Deep River” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”. The audience will be invited to join the chorus in some familiar songs.

The chorus is directed by James Russey and accompanied by Ginger Stark. In addition to the chorus members, the concert will feature Heidi Troyer, violin, and Mary Louisa Kolch, piano.

The chorus is comprised of area residents dedicated to making music and sharing it with the community.

Donations will be accepted to help the chorus continue making music in Manistique.

The Chorus is sponsored by Lake Effects Community Arts, with additional support for this concert from the Schoolcraft County Community Foundation. More information can be found at www.LakeEffectArts.org.
