Local woman takes home ‘MegaJackpot’

Ellena Forbus, won a $234,148.24 “MegaJackpots” on a “Wheel of Fortune” quarter machine on Sept. 5. Forbus is originally from Amity, Oregon.

She won the MegaJackpots prize shortly after she began playing at Kewadin.

“I knew after I hit that it was good, but I didn’t know it was that good until the pit boss told me,” Forbus said.

When asked about her immediate plans, the winner said she will use her winnings to “pay off her bills and help her mother.”

Kewadin Casino Manistique is one of five Kewadin Casinos in Michigan. Sister casinos are located in Christmas, Hessel, Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace. Kewadin Casinos belong to a Native American progressive gaming network that includes over 300 casinos in seventeen states.
