Club handed loss at home

Courtesy photo MANISTIQUE – Manistique Club Soccer hosted Niagara for a doubleheader at home on Saturday, dropping both games in the contest. According to team leaders, each game was hard fought, but in the end, the opponents went home with the win.

In the morning match up, Manistique took an early 2-0 lead. Goals were scored by Brett Annelin, Chris Freeman and Darien Nichols.

Despite their best attempt, the team lost at the end of four quarters, 3-4.

Tending the goal, Tony Walters had nine saves.

In game two, Manistique came up short, losing 1-8.

With an assist by Darien Nichols, the lone goal was scored by David Pratt.

The team heads to Marquette for another doubleheader on Saturday. Games are set for noon and 3 p.m.

Currently, the fall soccer club boasts 22 members on its roster. It plays games in both Michigan and Wisconsin.
