Virgina D. Wild
She was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Chincoteague, Va., one of 19 children, to James and Estella Williams and attended school there.
On June 4, 1953, she married Edward J. Wild in Princess Anne, Md., and they made their home in Farmington Hills, Mich., for several years. They moved to Manistique in 1975. In 1990, they purchased a resort on Indian Lake and have been the proprietors of the Cedar Shores Resort ever since.
Virginia enjoyed doing crafts, snowmobiling, driving her golf cart, and playing with her dogs. Most important to her was the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Wild of Manistique; her children, Dennis (Janet) Wild of Manistique, Ed (Claudia) Wild of South Lyon, Mich., Dean (Janet) Wild of Salem, Mich., Joe (Kathy) Wild of Venice, Fla., Brenda (David) Buttermore of Manistique, Debra (Charles) Smith of Manistique and Wayne K. Wild of Manistique; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Reyno-Wild; granddaughters, Amanda Smith and Dawn Wild; and her mother and father-in-law, Nina Wild-Nigh and Ed Wild.
A Celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1-4 p.m. at Cedar Shores Resort at Indian Lake.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Schoolcraft County Humane Society/ Eva Burrell Animal Shelter in Manistique.
