Carole E. Hoedel

MANISTIQUE – Carole E. Hoedel, 87, of Manistique, Mich., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

She was born Sept. 23, 1925 in Nahma, Mich., the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Mercier) Sargeant and was raised by her mother, Josephine and her stepfather, Fred Besner.

Carole moved to Manistique as a child and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales School and Manistique High School with the Class of 1943.

On Dec. 1, 1945, Carole married Gordon “Bill” Hoedel in Manistique. They made their home and raised their son in Manistique. Bill preceded her in death on July 4, 2005.

Carole enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, baking and cleaning. She had also worked as a clerk at Manistique Radio Center in the 1950s.

She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church of Manistique.

Carole is survived by her son, Mark (Bonnie) Hoedel of Manistique; grandson, Jason Hoedel of Manistique; sister, Lynn Field of Brighton, Mich.; along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Popour.

Per Carole’s request, there will be no services.

Burial will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery at Manistique
