Love lite season begins

Campaign kicks off, lighting set for Dec.

MANISTIQUE – The 2013 Love Lite Tree campaign has officially kicked off. The campaign, sponsored by the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, will end on Nov. 23.

Those wishing to contribute to the campaign may make a donation of $3 to reserve a light on the new 15-foot tree to be displayed in the hospital lobby in December. The lights may be purchased in the name of someone who has died or is still living, to honor a relative, friend, someone serving in the military, a special occasion, or even a pet. Donors must clearly state if the name or names are in memory or in honor of someone, or are a military member.

Proceeds from the campaign are used to give medical scholarships to area high school graduates and to buy equipment for the hospital. Last year’s purchases included: a phlebotomy chair for the lab, a large wheelchair for the outpatient department and a shower chair for the medical/surgical department.

Donation envelopes are available at several locations in Manistique including: mBank, Putvin Drug, Shopko Hometown and the SMH lobby.

Donations may also be mailed to: SMH Auxiliary, P.O. Box 141, Manistique, MI 49854. Donation forms will also be available in the Advisor throughout October and November.

More information on the program and forms will be available at the health fair on Sept. 28.

This year’s lighting ceremony is scheduled for Dec.2 at 6:30 p.m.
