Chamber Chase planned

SAULT STE. MARIE – Now in its fourth year, the annual Sault Area Chamber Chase, set for Sept. 28, provides runners with a unique opportunity to traverse the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge and run alongside the St. Mary’s River.

Participants can register for the full marathon, half marathon, Bridge Run and 5K.

The full and half-marathon are an out and back course which includes the International Bridge and continues along the river front. The course is primarily fast and flat, with the exception of inclines on the International Bridge. It is officially certified by USATF, number MI12045SH.

The bridge run is 6.6 miles and is an out and back course which includes the International

Bridge and continues on Portage Avenue to Water Street and finishes at City Hall.

The 5K route does not include the International Bridge and is actually 3.1 plus miles, slightly longer than a standard 5k.

A passport or other travel documents to verify citizenship is not required for the races that include the International Bridge. The route turns around prior to passing through Canada customs.

Online registration will close at 3 a.m. on Sept. 26. Runners can collect their racing bibs and other materials on Sept. 27 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Kewadin Casino of Sault Ste Marie. Race day registration and bib pickup at the LSSU Norris Center will also be available from 5:30-7 a.m.
