Manistique library will be closed Labor Day

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique School and Public Library will be closed on Sept. 2. The library will re-open on Sept. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Regular school in-session hours will begin Sept. 4 and are: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Two tributes awarded to Erickson Center

CURTIS – The Erickson Center for the Arts was recently awarded two special tributes on behalf of the State of Michigan. Both tributes were signed by Gov. Rick Snyder and are adorned with the governor’s seal.

The Center is open to the public Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Society plans annual recognition dinner

GARDEN – The Garden Peninsula Historical Society will hold its annual Recognition Dinner on Sept. 15. The event will be held in the Garden Community Building starting at noon.

The dinner will honor current and past peninsula residents age 80 and older. A potluck dinner will take place at 12:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass.

Names of potential honorees may be submitted until Sept. 7 by calling Brenda Tibbetts, at 644-7609 or emailing momtofour2009@centurylink.net.
