Concert raises funds for local arts center


Peterson and Chard Peterson and Chard MANISTIQUE – Baritone Roger Chard and pianist Maurita Peterson Holland recently performed at the Manistique Public Library.

Approximately 100 attended the event, which raised more than $1,500 for the arts.

“We really enjoyed ourselves and we were so pleased with the audience,” Holland said. “Most of all, we’re pleased that Lake Effects Community Arts is such a vibrant spot in our community.”

The non-profit Lake Effect Community Arts Center was created by a group of artists and other interested residents to encourage and nurture the arts in the Schoolcraft County area. It supports and facilitates participation in visual arts, music, theater, and dance by offering classes, workshops, exhibits, public performances, sales gallery and related services.

Memberships are available in this arts organization are $35 a year. Further information is available online at www.LakeEffectArts.org.
