Car show set to return

Classic cars to roll through this weekend

MANISTIQUE – Car lovers everywhere, rejoice – the Manistique Merchants Car Show is back. The event will kick off Friday with a “night cruise”, then cars will be parked for all-day viewing downtown Saturday.

The Friday Night Cruise will begin with line-up at 6 p.m. at Lakeshore Shell. Cars will travel down Chippewa Ave., Deer Street and South Cedar Street before heading out to Kewadin Casino.

On Saturday, the day begins with registration at 8 a.m. at Floyd’s Family Restaurant. The show will run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

A concurrent Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce Motorcycle Show will also take place. Registrants pay a $10 entry fee, and the first 50 bikes registered will receive a “goodie bag”.

Awards for the motorcycle show will be handed out and a poker run will follow the show.

In the car show, dash plaques and Kewadin Casino packages will be awarded to the first 180 registrants.

Trophy categories include: Merchants’ Best of Show, Kewadin Casino’s Best of Show, 21st Century Insurance Best of Show, and Longest Distance Driven.

First and second place trophies will be given in each class. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to each first place winner.

Other activities and booths available throughout the day include:

Craft show 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Kid’s tractor pull, registration begins at 12 p.m. and pull begins at 1 p.m.

Big Bay de Noc Booster Club whitefish booth

The event will be held rain or shine.
