Blood drive set for Sept. 11 in Manistique

MANISTIQUE – The U.P. Regional Blood Center, a service of Marquette General, will hold a blood drive on Sept. 11 at Blanchard Center in Manistique.

The drive will take place from 1 – 5:15 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call Lila Panek at (906) 341-6447.

Michigan farm chosen for McDonald’s award

SHELBY, Mich. – Peterson Farms, located in Shelby, Mich., recently received the prestigious McDonald’s USA Supplier of the Year. As a trusted supplier, PFI supplies McDonald’s restaurants nationwide with quality fruits, including apples, blueberries and cherries used in a number of menu items such as McDonald’s Apple Slices, Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits, McCafĂ© Smoothies, and Fruit and Maple Oatmeal.

McDonald’s recognized PFI for their ongoing dedication to insuring its fruit needs are met in Michigan and around the U.S.

PFI’s relationship with McDonald’s dates back to 2001 when they became a blueberry supplier for McDonald’s USA and Canada. In 2004, PFI became a supplier of the newly launched Apple Dippers and received the McDonald’s Teamwork Award. Within the next year, PFI also became a supplier of cherries, blueberries, sliced apples and more.

Red Cross offers slate of upcoming classes

ESCANABA – The American Red Cross in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties is offering the following courses in September and October.

All classes are held at the Escanaba Office, located at 504 1st Avenue North.

• Adult and Pediatric CPR/AE, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., $90.

• Adult and Pediatric CPR/AE, Web-based self-study followed by classroom session, Oct. 26, 9-10:30 a.m., $90.

• Adult and Pediatric First Aid/ CPR/AED, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., $110.

• Adult and Pediatric First Aid/ CPR/AED, Web-based self-study followed by classroom session, Oct. 26, 9-10:45 a.m., $110.
