Cedar River to host run/walk

CEDAR RIVER – The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports has recognized the Cedar River Bridge Walk and the Cedar River Trail Run as a quality physical activity event. As a result, the bridge walk and the trail run will be included in the Pure Michigan FITness Series endorsement program.

The morning of Sept. 1 will start off with the Cedar River Trail Run with registration beginning at 7 a.m. (CST).

The 5K run/walk will begin at 8:30 and travel the trails of J.W. Wells State Park starting at Zeratsky’s Extreme Heating and Cooling Building at the corner of 20.50 Lane and Highway M-35 in Cedar River. An awards ceremony follows the race.

Rep. Ed McBroom will sing the Star Spangled Banner to open the ceremonies of the 2nd Revival of the Cedar River Bridge Walk and address the crowd prior to walking across the Cedar River to the Cedarville Township Hall and Volunteer Fire Department, where event activities will take place.

The bridge walk will follow at 11 a.m. after the crowning of the Cedar River Queen going North on M-35 across the Cedar River to the township hall on Old Mill Lane.
