Fall club soccer sign up now available

MANISTIQUE – Fall club soccer sign up is now underway. Soccer players between the age of 14- 18 may register to compete.

The first game is scheduled for Aug. 28. Practices are scheduled for Aug. 12, 13 and 15 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Lindsley Frenette Park.

A parent meeting has been set for 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the soccer field.

Participation cost is $60 per player and $60 for the uniform. Registration forms are available at the Manistique Area Schools Public Library.

NMU soccer camp set to take place in Sept.

MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team will be hosting its second annual Wildcat Soccer School. There will be two schools held, each of which are for five weeks.

All sessions will be held on Monday’s from 5-7 p.m. in the Superior Dome on the turf. The school is open to all boys and girls ages 8-17.

The school will divide players by age and ability and will teach both the technical as well as tactical aspects of the game.

Goalkeeper training will be offered in every session as well. All sessions will end with a short scrimmage.

Session one will run from Sept. 16 - Oct. 14; session two runs from Oct. 21 - Nov. 18.

The cost for each five-week session is $70. Sign up is held in the dome 15 minutes before the first session.
