M. Francis Mathews M. Francis Mathews BRADENTON, Fla. – M. Francis Mathews, 92, of Bradenton, Fla., died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Bradenton.

He was born March 5, 1921, in Hiawatha Township, Manistique, Mich., the son of Eugene and Helen (Brown) Mathews and attended Manistique area schools.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.

In 1950 he married the former Charlotte Monette and together they had a son Gary. Charlotte preceded him in death in 1985.

Francis was employed as an automobile salesman in the Green Bay, Wis., area for several years.

In 1987 he married Katherine McKilligan Curran and they made their home in Green Bay and Bradenton. She preceded him in death in 2006.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary in 1979. He is survived by his sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m.,

Thursday, Aug. 15, at Fairview Cemetery in Manistique. The Schoolcraft County Veterans will present the memorial ritual.
