Crafty Camping

3 p.m. – Take time in your vacation to make a special keepsake. Meet the Park Explorer Guide at the Beach Shelter for creative recycling.

What in the Woods?

7 p.m. – There’s more to the forest than the trees. Meet the Park Explorer Guide at the first bathrooms for a closer look.

Going Batty

9 p.m. – Are bats scary, creepy creatures? Join the Park Explorer Guide at the Picnic Shelter and uncover the truth about Michigan’s only flying mammal.

August 16

Talking Turkey

4 p.m. – Hunted almost to extinction, now found in almost every Michigan county; visit with the Park Explorer Guide to uncover the remarkable story of the fowl.

Healing Plants

7 p.m. – Are nature’s remedies found in the forest? Join the Camp Explorer Guide for and Exploratory wander. Dress comfortably and don’t forget the bug spray.

August 17

Annual Fishing Derby

8 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Contact camp host for more information.

Big Spring History

1 p.m. – Visit with the Park explorer Guide at Kitch-iti-kipi at Palms Book State Park to learn about regional history on a raft ride over the crystal clear water.

Batteries Not Included

7 p.m. – Join the Park Explorer Guide near the first bathrooms for old fashioned fun and games.

August 18

Paddling 101

2-4 p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer guide near the first bathrooms for a fun kayaking adventure – review the basics; whether beginner or old-hand and explore the lake in a twenty minute session.

August 21

What in the World!

1:30 p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer Guide at Palms Book State Park to uncover the mystery of the week. This program will encourage the naturalist in all.

August 22

Morning Meander

11 a.m. – Start the week with a trivia walk – get your body moving and mind flowing while discovering nature.

Creative Crafting

3 p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer Guide at the Beach Shelter for native history and crafts.

August 23

Rocks Rock

4 p.m. – Visit with the Park Explorer Guide at the beach for a special peek into petrology and fossil formation.
