Olympic swim



Former Emerald athlete Cody Kayser, who holds the title to five school records (200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke) recently had the opportunity to swim with Olympic gold medalist Peter Vanderkaay. A champion swimmer at the NCAA and Olympic levels, Vanderkaay was the celebrity guest speaker at the Swim Teal Lake event held in Negaunee on July 25. From left: Peter Vanderkaay, Cody Kayser and Brad Cowan of Marquette. Vanderkaay finished first with a time of 00:46:00.1, followed by Cowan in second at 00:52:00.3 and Kayser sliding in at third with 00:52:00.3. Kayser attends Alma College and is a member of the swim team.
