GFWC tours health camp

Makes donation to new $300K building

MANISTIQUE – The GFWC Michigan recently held its 14th annual tour of Bay Cliff Health Camp. The tours have been held since the GFWC endorsed Bay Cliff as one of its major projects.

Thirty-nine club members from around the state traveled to visit the campers and take part in daily camp activities. Tours began at 10 a.m., followed by dinner with the campers and a presentation from the Teen Club, which addressed therapies and future goals.

The day also included a monetary donation presentation from club member Marty Grouleau, on behalf of GFWC, to Camp Director Tim Bennett.

GFWC Michigan has adopted a building at the camp where campers’ clothing is stored for daily changes or as necessary. Donations go toward the building, called “Suds and Duds”, which is estimated to cost $300,000.

GFWC Manistique Club members who participated in the tour included: Irene Hinkson, Ethel Elamon, Fritzy Nelson, Judy Slingsley, Linda Magnusson, Susan Krumrey (“Jingle Bells”), State President Marty Grouleau and Dorothy Hoholik, tour director.
