Fire destroys garage on Duck Inn Road

MANISTIQUE – A garage in Manistique Township was destroyed by fire Friday, according to law enforcement officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officers from the Manistique Public Safety Department received a call about a garage fire at 668N Duck Inn Road at approximately 10:18 p.m. Upon the officers’ arrival, the unattached structure, owned by Corey Gardapee of Manistique, was fully engulfed by flames. Two vehicles and numerous other items were located in the garage and also consumed by the fire.

There were no injuries reported, but the structure and the contents were deemed a total loss.

The Manistique Public Safety Department was assisted at the scene by Doyle, Hiawatha, and Thompson township fire departments, as well as the Michigan State Police.
