Loyal P. Archey

NAHMA - Loyal P. Archey, 75, of 8225 River GG St., Nahma, Mich., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, June 29, 2013, at his home.

Loyal was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Manistique the son of Loyal and Ann (Szmansky) Jenerou. His father died when he was a young boy and was later adopted and raised by his mother and step-father Norman Archey. He was raised in the Manistique area and graduated from Manistique High School.

On Aug. 28, 1957, he married Doris Stanzione in Gary, Ind. He worked for the United Steelworkers of America and retired in 1986. Following retirement, he moved to the Nahma area from Hobart, Ind.

Loyal was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the U.S. Steelworkers Union.

He loved playing pool, fishing, hunting and enjoying all outdoor sports. He further enjoyed playing cribbage, fixing cars and in his younger years boxing.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Archey of Nahma; children, Kathy Scheeringa of Nahma, Joseph George Archey of Nahma, Norma Jean Archey of Evansville, Ind., David Lee Archey of Lake State, Ind., and Roger Allen Archey of Harrison, Ark.; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Loyal is further survived by his step-brother, Harold Blowers of Nahma and sisters, Alice Mae King of Gas City, Ind., and Gail Ann Minor of Anderson, Ind.

Loyal is preceded in death by his parents Loyal Jenerou and Ann Blowers; his step-father’s, Norman Archey and George Blowers; and his step-brother, Norman Blowers.

A gathering for family and friends will be held beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 29, at Loyal’s home, located at 8225 River GG Street, Nahma.
