Julius A. McGahan

CURTIS - Julius A. “Pete” McGahan, 74, of Whispering Pine Road, Curtis, Mich., passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique, Mich.

He was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Curtis, the son of Abie Ned and Flossie Claire (Jones) McGahan.

On Oct. 11, 1958, he married the former Agnes M. Watson in Gulliver, Mich., and they raised their family there. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2000.

On Oct. 10, 2010, he married Josephine L. Bishop at the Curtis Baptist Church and they made their home in Curtis.

For many years Pete was employed as a woods worker. He later worked and retired from the Inland Lime & Stone Company in Gulliver.

Pete attended the Curtis Baptist Church and will always be remembered as a hard worker. He loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and selling his produce.

Pete is survived by his wife, Josephine L. McGahan of Curtis; son, Paul (Caren) McGahan of Gulliver; daughters, Judy (Allen) Reno and Patti Jo (Willie) Tyler both of Gulliver; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Verla Burton of Germfask and Lena Sutton of Curtis; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife Agnes, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Smith; and his brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, from 10-11 a.m. at the Curtis Baptist Church in Curtis.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ray White officiating. A continued time of gathering and refreshments will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following the service.

Burial will be held in Wood Cemetery at Doyle Township, Mich.
