GFWC members help celebrate birthdays

MANISTIQUE – July birthdays were recently celebrated at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility. Those celebrating included: John Mathews, Romayne Dewey, Florence Richards, Theresa Kaiser, James Carney, Signe Cameron, Adeline McNally, Robert Lakosky and Ollie Harrison.

GFWC Manistique hosted the party, which took place in the outdoor pavilion. Refreshments were served and family members and friends of those celebrating birthdays were on hand.

The next birthday party will be held on Aug. 14 with music provided by Tom Hoholik and Mike Johnson.

Erickson center plans tastings, auctions

CURTIS – The Erickson Center for the Arts will hold its annual Wine and Cheese Tasting and Auction event July 27. The event will take place at Chamberlin’s Ole Forest Inn.

This year, the center will celebrate the event’s tenth year, with spotlight items in the silent and live auctions, including: a one week stay in Alabama’s Gulf Shores in a two bedroom/two bath condo; 1960 Dunphy 16’ runabout boat with mahogany lap strake construction with a 75 hp outboard motor and trailer; an at-home Japanese dinner for six prepared by a chef; a Dog Sled Adventure with Nature’s Kennel in McMillan; a mountain bike; sports memorabilia; multiple gift certificates featuring lodging, dinner, spa treatments, and golf; art pieces from local Michigan artists; and this year’s ECA-sponsored art projects.

The event starts at 4 p.m. and all proceeds benefit the Erickson Center for the Arts. Tickets are $20 a person. Advanced tickets may be purchased from businesses sponsoring wine tables.
