Edward G. Saunders
Ted was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., on March 24, 1928. His parents were Arthur and Olive (Harding) Saunders.
The family lived in Iron Mountain until 1944, when they relocated to Manistique, Mich. Ted graduated from Manistique High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Marine Corp soon after.
After his service in the Marines, he enrolled at Michigan State College and graduated in 1954. While at MSU he met Martha Garrett and they were married on Sept. 9, 1951.
Ted went to work for Chrysler Corp and lived in Madison Heights, Mich. His daughter Connie was born in 1958.
In 1960, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and in 1964 his son David was born. The family lived near Cedarburg, Wis., for about 30 years until Ted and Martha retired to their cottage on Gooseneck Lake in the Hiawatha National Forest, not far from Manistique. They would spend six months there and then escape the winter by going to Gulf Shores,
Ala. Ted worked at several jobs but finally got back to his first love which was tool and die making and eventually started his own company.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ted is survived by his wife, Martha; children, Connie Saunders Paulson, David A. Saunders; and brother, Albert Arthur Saunders. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Mark Paulson; grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew and Cameron Paulsen and Breeanne, Jordan and Zachary Saunders.
