Michigan Tech honors spring 2013 graduates

HOUGHTON – Michigan Technological University honored the achievements of nearly 1,000 graduates May 4.

The following students from the local area were among those graduating: Jessica Neddow, Manistique, with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and Robert Mals, Shingleton, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Women take part in engineering week

HOUGHTON – More than 150 young women from 13 states recently took part in “Women in Engineering” on the campus of Michigan Technological University. WIE is a highly competitive scholarship program and weeklong exploration of careers in engineering fields, including mechanical, computer, environmental, electrical, chemical, biomedical, civil, geological and materials.

Among the students was Theresa Weber from Manistique.

The students also got to spend the week living in Michigan Tech’s residence halls.
