Ron Rubick Memorial Golf outing to take place Sunday

MANISTIQUE – The Ron Rubick Memorial Golf Outing, sponsored by the Manistique High School football program, will once again take place at 9 a.m. on Sunday at the Indian Lake Golf and Country Club.

“It is a great opportunity to visit with friends, classmates, and teammates,” said head football coach Todd Kangas. “It also allows us to remember the legacy of local legend Ron Rubick. Ron was such a positive influence for Manistique that it is nice to spend some time to reflect on the impact he had on us individually and the people of our area.”

The entry cost is $60, which includes: food on the course, door prizes and special event prizes designated on all 18 holes.

There is also a long list of raffle prizes and silent auction items including: an autographed Green Bay Packer football; golf putter; golf packages in Marquette, Gladstone, St. Ignace, and Escanaba; numerous one night stay casino packages; overnight stays in Marquette; numerous gift certificates and gift cards for local establishments in Manistique, Marquette and Escanaba; MSU apparel and Manistique football apparel.

Cart fees are not included.

Pre-registration is helpful, but not required and walkins on the day of the event are welcome. Kangas hopes they can break the record of 120 participants set a few years ago.

If you cannot participate, but would like to contribute to the Manistique football program, donations will be accepted on the day of the event or can be mailed to Manistique Area Schools, Attention Todd Kangas, 100 North Cedar St., Manistique, MI 49854.
