MANISTIQUE – Local resident Meg Wnuk was recently honored for her service to the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan.

A member of local Chapter, Ida No. 54, for over 30 years, Wnuk was granted an appointment by the Worthy Grand Matron Alma Hunnicutt and the Worthy Grand Patron William Kennedy to serve on the Faithful Sales Committee for a period of one year.

Meg has been traveling throughout the Upper Peninsula, visiting the local Chapters and selling homemade items, jewelry, etc., to raise money for the Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron’s favorite charities – the Benevolence Fund and the Eastern Star Education Fund. The Benevolence Fund provides financial assistance to the families of Master Masons.

The Education Fund provides scholarships to qualified students throughout the State of Michigan.

The Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan is a non-profit, charitable organization for both men and women. Ida Chapter has existed in Manistique for almost 124 years, assisting around the community.
