Folkfest returns Friday

Event to include multiple activities over two days

MANISTIQUE – Folkfest is returning this weekend for its 24th year. The celebration will take place in downtown Manistique on Friday and Saturday.

The two-day event boasts a number of attractions, including: arts and crafts booths, food vendors, pet parade, beer garden, Eva Burrell Animal Shelter Dunk Tank, GFWC “Jail and Bail”, Elks Chicken Barbecue, Paper chase run, children’s fun lane, face painting, Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce silent and live auction, Folkfest Button sales, 50/50, a raffle board with a chance to win $1,000 cash, and music with street dances both nights.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday

5:30 p.m.: Eva Burrell Animal Shelter Pet Parade

6 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.: Beer Garden

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.: music by Thunder and Lightning

9 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: music by Nudge

12:30 – 2 a.m.: music by Thunder and Lightning Saturday

9 a.m.: Manistique Paper Chase. Registration

7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at Manistique Senior Center

10 a.m.: Folkfest 2013 Opening Ceremony, Color Guard. National Anthem by Daryl Dixson, presentations for 2013 Folkfest Hero.

10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Schoolcraft County Chamber Silent Auction

10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Music by Harbor Town

11 a.m. – 2:30 a.m.: Beer Garden Open

1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Live music by Molly Slavinski

1:30 – 2 p.m.: Dance It Up – Mona Xavier Dance Group

2 – 4 p.m.: Key Players

4 – 4:30 p.m.: Live music by Kendra Bloom

4:30 – 5:30 p.m.: Schoolcraft County Chamber Live Auction with “Nascar Bob” Williams

5:30 – 7 p.m.: Music by Domestic Babbage

7:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.: Music by Derrell Syria Project
