Emerald football scramble fundraiser plans in motion

MANISTIQUE – Organizers of the Ron Rubick Memorial Football Fundraiser are busy organizing this year’s event.

Going into its 10th season, the annual event is a fundraiser for the Manistique Emerald football program. Rubick, who passed away in 2009, was instrumental in working to assist many football programs.

All men, women, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, current and former players, high school age students, coaches, faculty and football fans are invited to participate.

The four-person scramble will be held on Sunday, July 14, during Folkfest weekend. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with shotgun start at 9.m.

The cost to participate is $60 per person, with payment made payable to Manistique Football. The fee covers golf and prizes.

Golf carts are available at the course and can be reserved by calling the club directly at (906) 341- 5600.

Individuals who do not have a foursome to play can contact either Todd Kangas at 341-8494; Ron Provo at 341-5300; Bob Carlson at 341-6524; Dan Malloy at 341- 6579 or Joe Davis at 341-5949 to be placed on a team.

Early registration is appreciated so organizers can plan accordingly. An entry form appears on page B2. Further questions regarding the tournament can be answered by contacting one of the committee members.
