Alger County man dies in crash

1 vehicle accident is under investigation

MUNISING TWP. – A one vehicle accident on H-13 near the Coalwood Grade claimed the life of an Alger County man last week.

According to a press release from the Michigan State Police – Munising Detachment, troopers responded to the accident on June 19, to find Paul Walker, 70, had died at the scene.

Walker had been driving a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash and Walker was wearing a properly fastened seatbelt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was the Alger County Ambulance, Munising Township Fire Department and an Accident Investigator from the Negaunee Post.
