Annual 4-man scramble at Indian Lake Golf

MANISTIQUE – The 31st annual Bud Malloy 4-Man Scramble golf tournament will take place June 22 and 23 at the Indian Lake Golf Club in Manistique.

The event plays host to 320 golfers from across the Upper Peninsula, Lower Peninsula, Wisconsin and Canada.

Last year, the Delta County team of Matt Smith, Larry Bratonia, Nick Ahola and Matt Argall took home first with a total score of 116 – 28 under par. The team of Steve Larson, Mike Nagy, Steve Nagy and Josh Orler missed out of the top spot by a single stroke in regulation play.

The prior three tournaments had been decided in sudden death playoffs.

Tournament play kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday with a shotgun start for the first 160 golfers. The remaining field will tee off at 2 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and potential players can contact the Indian Lake Golf Club at 341-5600 to add team names to the waiting list for future tournaments.

Pictured Rocks 5k and half run this weekend

MUNISING – The 38th annual Pictured Rocks Road Race 5k and Half Marathon will be held June 23 at the RW Nebel Athletic Field in Munising. The half marathon begins at 8 a.m. and the 5k will kick off at 8:20 a.m.

Unique to this race are the “Rockin’ Awards”. Awards for placing runners are made in the U.P. from local rock. This year, every finisher will receive a ribbon.

Race participation supports the local offices of the Alzheimer’s Association and Meals on Wheels.

Rotary Club annual fundraiser tournament set

MANISTIQUE -– Manistique Rotary Club will host its seventh annual fundraising golf tournament July 19.

The four-person event will start at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start at Indian Lake Golf and Country Club.

Proceeds will be used to benefit student scholarships, leadership conferences and community beautification.

Pre-registration is available directly at the clubhouse or by calling 341-5600. Participation cost is $200 per team or $50 per person. It includes special events and other prizes.
