Craig A. Bontekoe Craig A. Bontekoe MANISTIQUE – Craig A. Bontekoe, 42, of 585N County Road 440, Manistique, Mich. died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Southeastern Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ohio, while working in that area.

He was born Dec. 16, 1970, in Manistique, the son of Charles A. and Mary J. (MacLean) Bontekoe and attended Manistique area schools.

Craig was formerly employed as an over the road truck driver and was currently working for the Legends Oil Drilling Co. as a drilling foreman in the oil fields of Ohio and Pennsylvania.

He loved the outdoors and was a member of the Bear Houndsman Association. He enjoyed coon hunting with his dogs, bear baiting, and fishing. He also enjoyed coaching softball and hockey on his children’s sports teams.

Craig is survived by his wife, Deb Martino of Manistique; daughter, Brooke Bontekoe of Manistique; son, Chuck Bontekoe of Manistique; step-children, Terry Zellar and Jessica (Jason) Strom both of Germfask; mother, Mary J. Bontekoe of Manistique; sisters, Barbara Landis of Manistique and Bonnie (Bill) Jenerou of Manistique; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bontekoe, in 1999.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 24, at the Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
