Carmeuse, FutureMark sponsor Paper Chase

MANISTIQUE – Organizers for the Manistique Paper Chase 5K and 10K races say plans for this year’s event are falling into place.

New to the scene this year as a sponsor is Carmeuse Port Inland Operations. They will be joining long time sponsor FutureMark Manistique.

The run/walk races are scheduled for the morning of Folkfest weekend celebrations on July 13.

Chip timing will be provided again this year by Superior Timing.

Runner and walker registration and packet pick-up will be available on July 12, from 7-8 p.m. at the Senior Citizen’s Center on Main Street and again beginning at 7:30 a.m. on July 13.

Participants are reminded that no registrations will be accepted after 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the race.

Habitat for Humanity fundraiser planned

MANISTIQUE – Habitat for Humanity HiawathaLand will hold its second annual golf fundraiser on June 28.

The four person event will start at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start at Indian Lake Golf and Country Club.

The hole-in-one prize this year is a 2013 Polaris Ranger sponsored by Renze Power Sports and Chuck Renze Ford.

Pre-registration is available directly at the clubhouse or by calling 341- 5600. Participation cost is $250 per team which includes dinner and prizes. Registration deadline is June 21.
