Fifth ‘Honor Flight’ set for September

ESCANABA – The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight has scheduled its fifth mission for Sept. 18.

In the first four missions, over 300 World War II veterans were transported to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorial and other monuments in the area. Beginning with this flight, Korean War era veterans (June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955) will also be eligible to participate.

Priority will remain with the WWII veterans.

Honor Flights are conducted at no cost to the veterans. Each veteran is accompanied by a “guardian”. The UP Honor Flight is entirely a volunteer organization and has 501 (c) 3 status.
