SMH plans dedication ceremony for RHC

MANISTIQUE – Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and the SMH Rural Health Clinic will host an official dedication ceremony on June 21. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will attend the event, which also doubles as a tribute to Manistique native Alan W. Ott.

The Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation donated $500,000 to SMH early in the building planning for its new facility. Doing so secured the Foundation’s opportunity to name the RHC, and they chose the “Alan W. Ott Rural Health Clinic”. Ott, a Manistique native, graduated from Manistique High School in 1950 and was a long time Chemical Bank president and treasurer of the Gerstacker Foundation.

During the dedication ceremony, Schuette a trustee of the Foundation, will pay special tribute to Ott at the dedication event.

The dedication event is open to the public and will be held at 11 a.m. at new hospital.
