Records and titles fall at the hands of Emeralds
NORWAY– Running at a high level all season paid dividends for the Emerald boy’s track and field team in Norway last Thursday. Fast starts and strong finishes led to a Mid-Peninsula Conference Championship for the Emerald boys who racked up 159 points in a very competitive field.
Defending champions the Negaunee Miners finished second with 130 points followed by Iron Mountain with 95 to round off the top three spots.
The Emeralds senior Kenner Broullire set a new school record with his time of 10.94 in the 100-meter dash. Broullire also medaled in the 300-meter hurdles. With two medals to hang, Broullire along with teammates Robert Ayotte, Bryson Lawrence and Ryan Ramey held off Ishpeming to win the 1,600-meter relay.
Ayotte, Lawrence, Ramey and William Pomeroy followed that effort up with a first place finish in the 3,200-meter relay.
Coming off the relays, Lawrence medaled in the 800-meter run, Ramey in the 200-meter run and Jared Edwards medaled in discuss.
