GFCW helps celebrate medical care birthdays

MANISTIQUE – The GFWC Manistique recently held a monthly birthday party at the Schoolcraft Medical care Facility. Residents celebrating May birthdays were: Cinderella Shaffer, Audrey Martin, Charlotte Dragos and Milton Farley.

Each birthday celebrant received a handmade lap robe provided by community members.

The monthly celebrations have been hosted by the club for 32 years. This month, there were 11 club members providing volunteer services.

The June party is scheduled for June 16 with Tom Hoholik and Mike Johnson providing entertainment.

Library plans change to summer hours

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique School and Public Library will be closed on May 27, Memorial Day, and will begin summer hours on June 5.

The summer hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
