Girl scouts award honors

Organization pays tribute to volunteers

MANISTIQUE – Several U.P. adult volunteers were recently recognized by the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Inc. The volunteers were honored for service in their communities and for outstanding volunteerism within the organization.

Awards included: Volunteer of Excellence, Appreciation Pin and the highest volunteer award, the Thanks Badge II. Two adults were recognized for 35 years of membership.

To earn the recognition, volunteers must be nominated for their service and approved by the GSNWGL Board of Directors.

“These are the cream of the crop volunteers,” said Jill Johnson, Community Development Manager. “Girl Scouts is honored to have such wonderful adult role models and mentors and this is just one way to say thank you for their dedication to or mission of ‘Building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place’.”
