Gun, knife show ready

Outdoor Expo set for Friday, Saturday

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Recreation Department is gearing up for the annual outdoor recreation this weekend.

The 2013 Outdoor Expo and Gun and Knife Show will be held at Little Bear West Arena on Maple Street in Manistique. The event runs Friday, from 3 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to Recreation Director Bill Pohlman, the event has a few new additions this year, and plenty of vendors. Among those vendors are: Nye Construction, Hoholik Enterprises. Barker Construction, Chuck Renze Ford and Power Sports, Curran Chevrolet, Watson’s Marina, Fish and Hunt Shop, Bald Eagle Harley Davidson, Taste of Chicago, and Limestone Credit Union.

Some smaller vendors will round out the expo, Pohlman added. A concession will also be run both days.

The main attraction of the expo, the guns and knife dealers, will be plentiful, Pohlman, with approximately nine making an appearance.

The expo will feature outdoor items ranging from hunting, trapping, fishing and camping gear to recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles and ORVs, chain saws, wood-stoves, homebuilding options – even wines and clothing and accessories.

Pohlman emphasizes there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

Admission to the expo is $1, with proceeds going to support Central Park improvements and recreation programs.

The show is sponsored by the Pioneer Tribune, Advisor, WLUC TV, and the Radio Results Network.
