MAS spring sports hiatus continues, meets delayed

MANISTIQUE – Despite the increasing presence of spring, the Manistique Middle/High School is continuing cancellation or postponement of sports events due to conditions.

An update of the sports schedule was recently released by Athletic Director Rob Ryan:

High school track – The next meet is scheduled for April 23 in Iron Mountain. Currently, this meet has a 50/50 chance of being held. The previously postponed Kiwanis Invitational is now set for April 26, with running events starting at 4 p.m.

Junior high track – The first meet is set for April 24. Escanaba plans to host the meet, although conditions may only allow for running events.

Softball – All games for this week have been cancelled. The April 22, doubleheader at Munising has also been cancelled. None of the cancelled games have been rescheduled.

Golf – This week’s matches have been cancelled. The boys’ meet in Gladstone on April 22 has also been cancelled. The boys’ meet on April 23 in Norway has been moved to April 30.

The girls’ meet in Gladstone on April 26 is to be determined.

Indian Lake association sets cormorant meeting

MANISTIQUE – The Indian Lake Sports and Recreation Association will be hosting a cormorant harassment meeting at noon on April 20 at the Big Spring Inn.

Anyone interested in participating in this year’s harassment program must attend.
